Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek – September 7, 2025

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Pam Huber, Barry Hershfeld

Temp: 68°F

Winds: N 12 mph

Weather Conditions: overcast with occasional drizzle

It was fairly quiet on this cloudy, drizzly morning at Cox Hall Creek WMA but there were some birds flitting around, feeding. There were many Osprey, both flying over and perched in the dead tree on the island. A House Wren sat low in a shrub, barely visible, doing a quiet whisper call for quite a while. Warblers included Black-and-white, American Redstart, Tennessee, Yellow, Chestnut-sided and Common Yellowthroat. A female Scarlet Tanager was a treat to see and there was a small group of Baltimore Orioles as well. White-eyed Vireos seemed especially vocal this morning and we heard a few Bobolink overhead.
