Young Ospreys are still very much in evidence around Cape May. We had three carrying fish in from the Bay this morning. One of them perched obligingly and, not only could we see the fish it was eating, but we could also see the pristine, white-edged feathers on the young bird. An Alder Flycatcher called softly from a field, allowing us to distinguish it from a willow flycatcher. A couple of Merlins raced through and one perched atop a distant tree where we watched it eating a medium-sized bird with yellow on its belly, species unknown.
