BioBlitz at CMBO’s Center for Research and Education – September 15, 2022

Last week we had our annual BioBlitz at the CMBO Center for Research and Education (CRE). A BioBlitz is an event that is aimed at identifying as many species as possible within a certain area within a certain amount of time. In our case, our BioBlitz took place at CRE on September 15th, 2022. We had guided walks throughout the day and held presentations about planting native gardens for wildlife, our Healthy Land and Waters Grant, the Monarch Monitoring Project, and ended the day with a Mothing Session led by Sam Galick.

In total we identified 162 species, including 70 plant species, 48 insect species, 33 bird species, 6 mammal species, 3 fungus and lichen species, 1 reptile species, and 1 amphibian species. Below is a list of all the species that we identified throughout the day. Be on the lookout next year for our Fall BioBlitz taking place at the CMBO Northwood Center!
