Birding the Meadows – May 30, 2022

Weather Conditions: sunny

Another fantastic Meadows walk. The first treat was the Virginia Rail with two chicks out in plain view.  White and Glossy Ibises were in the center pool and lingering shorebirds included White-rumped, Semi-palmated and Least Sandpipers, along with Short-billed Dowitchers and Lesser Yellowlegs.  The Least Terns were in full courtship mode, and the American Oystercatchers continued on their nests.  Indigo Buntings and Chats were in chorus and the walk was rounded out with 3 Black-necked Stilts who flew in calling, landed briefly and then took off overhead.
