Half Day Fridays at Sandy Hook
Early fall birding at the hook: we may encounter anything from shorebirds and terns to flycatchers, sparrows, and warblers. A wide variety of habitats ensure good bird diversity at one of the state’s best spots. Be prepared for 3-4 hours of walking over flat and sandy surfaces. Led by Scott Barnes, Linda Mack, Carole Hughes, & other associate naturalists. Location: Meet at Parking Lot B, about halfway down the lot by the bathrooms PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: $25 Members, $30 Non-members REGISTER HERE
National Coffee Day
National Coffee Day is coming up on Friday September 29th! Get caffeinated with us while we sip some of our Birds and Beans Coffee. Birds and Beans Coffee is sold in our gift shop and is Bird Friendly® Coffee. Rather than being grown on farms that have been cleared of vegetation, Bird Friendly coffees are planted under a canopy of trees. These trees provide the shelter, food and homes migratory and local birds need to survive. Enjoy chatting with our Sanctuary Director about the future plans for Lorrimer Sanctuary and watch the birds through our picture window in our classroom! This is a drop-in, free program but let us know you're coming, and we'll put on a fresh pot! COST: FREE CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however, registrations can be transferred to another program in the future. REGISTER HERE
