Troy Meadows Birding Walk
Troy Meadows in Parsippany/East Hanover is an excellent place to encounter ducks, herons, and marsh birds, plus migrating passerines. Footing can be wet. Led by David Hall. Location: Drive to the end of Troy Meadows Road. Meet at the small parking area along Troy Meadow Rd, close to the gas pipeline crossing. Troy Meadow Road, Parsippany NJ 07054. Sandy Hook Birding
Late October can be excellent for migratory songbirds and other species at this coastal hotspot. We may encounter terns, waders, warblers and more. Fall birding at a “crossover time” when neotropic migrants mix with incoming raptors and sparrows. A wide variety of habitats ensures good birding at one of the state's best hotspots. Be prepared for a fair amount of walking on flat and sandy terrain. Bring lunch and dress for the weather. Led by Linda Mack, Carole Hughes, and Chris Daly. Diane Cornell Wildlife Garden Project: Winter Gardening 101
Please join us for Winter Gardening 101, a continuation of the Diane Cornell Wildlife Garden Project suite of events. Have you been wanting to learn how to transform your backyard habitat into a haven for migrating and overwintering insects? This program at Cape May Point’s Triangle Park, a model backyard habitat, will provide you with an introduction into the gardening methods and variation species you can add to your home’s landscape for the colder months of the year! Join Jack McDonough, butterfly and invertebrate conservationist for the Endangered and Nongame Species Program under NJDEP Fish & Wildlife, who will be presenting on these important topics. The presentation will include a garden tour of Triangle Park, a discussion on insect migration, and the opportunity to take home seeds of various plants to add to your home garden! Preregistration is suggested. COST: FREE PARKING: Street parking is only available in the area of Cape May Point CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s CMBO programs are virtually never cancelled. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance.
