NJ Audubon: Rutgers University Ecological Preserve Birder’s Walk
Led by Jeremy Cohen, Associate Naturalist Join us at the Rutgers Ecological Preserve and Natural Teaching Area for a fall bird walk. The preserve is 316 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. Migration is the time of the highest bird diversity, and we expect to see or hear 30 – 40 or more bird species. Expect to walk about 1.5 miles on flat trails, but please wear shoes that can handle some light mud. Free parking is available by required special permit; parking permit link provided in program registration confirmation email. Please bring your own binoculars, and spotting scope if desired. Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR
Early fall birding at one of the state's best hotspots. Expect a wide range of species from long-legged wading birds to raptors, rails, and many species of shorebirds, terns, and passerines. Each week is likely to be different as we watch the ebb and flow of fall migration. Wear long pants and a lightweight long-sleeved shirt. Insect repellant is advised. Restrooms on site. Bring lunch. Cape May Hawkwatch Experience, with ASL Interpreter
Are you looking to experience hawk watching for the first time? Or to learn more raptor ID tips? Join CMBO staff on the Cape May Hawkwatch for an afternoon of testing your birding skills and enjoying the spectacle of migration. As a part of this event, we will have benches for sitting, binoculars and spotting scopes for viewing, and educational materials to assist with bird identification. No matter your level of birding experience, you are welcome to join us in the fun! An ASL interpreter will be provided for this event.
