Join us for a festive holiday workshop! Using fresh evergreens, create your own handcrafted holiday wreath while enjoying hot cider, hot chocolate, and other goodies. The process is easy to learn, and even beginners leave with impressive creations. In the process you’ll learn to identify common evergreen trees by their leaves and cones. All materials provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own special decorations. This program is suited for teens and adults. Ticket sale ends 12/2 at 4:00 PM. COST: $35 members, $40 nonmembers. The Nature Center of Cape May will host their Artists Holiday Marketplace on Saturday, December 6th, from 10am to 3pm. This year’s Artists Holiday Marketplace will feature local artists with their original handcrafted wares. We invite you to Shop Small and Shop Local this holiday season and support some of the Nature Center’s favorite local artists. Local art and books make great holiday gifts! The Artists Holiday Marketplace is open to the public with plenty of free parking. Light refreshments will be served. Stop by and get in the Holiday Spirit. Stop by the hot chocolate station as you shop. Proceeds go directly to support our artist and author friends who have been so generous to us through volunteering and providing donations to our fundraisers. Embrace the beauty of nature as we mark the shortest day of the year and welcome the return of longer days. Immerse yourself in the serene surroundings of the sanctuary and connect with the rhythms of the natural world. We will be lighting our bonfire, burning our intentions for the new year, and meditating through our solstice spiral. Don't miss out on this special occasion to embrace the spirit of the season. Led by Sue Predl, Nature Store Assistant Celebrate the days getting longer and join Sue for a guided two-mile nature hike to enjoy the trees, birds, and plant life at Scherman Hoffman Nature Sanctuary on the shortest day of the year. The trails we hike will vary, but we can guarantee beautiful views of our sanctuary. Walking time is flexible but will be approximately 2 hours. Please dress for the winter weather and wear sturdy shoes; be prepared to walk on uneven ground and up hills. The hike will go rain or shine. Led by Angus Macaulay, NJ Audubon Teacher Naturalist Start 2026 with a nature walk! Let the sights and sounds of nature usher in the New Year. Join us at Hawk Rise Sanctuary where we will observe and discuss the wildlife we encounter along the trails. Hot beverages will be provided afterwards. Don’t let the chilly winter months keep you from spending time outside! Bundle up and join us for a family-friendly, sensory-focused nature walk! We will take a gentle stroll around the nature center trails, focusing on the sights, sounds, and textures of winter. We will identify trees, search for signs of wildlife, and collect a few natural treasures along the way. Note: We may walk up to a mile, over generally level surfaces. Some surfaces may be muddy or uneven. Please dress warmly and wear sturdy footwear. Pre-registration is required.
