Walk the Cove with a local naturalist and discover the gifts the sea leaves behind at the water's edge. Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats — the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll search the shallows, comb the shoreline for treasures, and walk along the dunes in search of wildlife. WHERE: Meet at the flagpole near the Pavilion at the end of promenade by the Cove beach. WHEN: Wednesday mornings. 8:30 A.M.-9:30 A.M. WHO CAN JOIN?: A wonderful program for the whole family! Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Water, sun and insect protectant. Masks required. Spend the afternoon with a Lorrimer Sanctuary Naturalist discovering the seasonal joys of our wildlife! Spend the hour with a Lorrimer Sanctuary naturalist as we discover some stand-outs of summer! This guided program will allow you to look at Lorrimer through a new lens all season long. Bring your curiosity and tune into the buzz of our wildlife! COST: $10 members / $15 nonmembers IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Dress appropriately for the weather. This program is entirely outdoors. Explore the Shore

Join us for an exploration of the Cape May Harbor led by our 4-H teen leaders! Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of Cape May Harbor. You will learn about the ecology of our coastal waters, and about the fascinating and ancient Horseshoe Crab. COST: Free with suggested donation. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Meet 5-10 minutes prior to your program time at the picnic tables in front of the Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sun screen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. Restrooms will be available to the public 30 minutes before and after the program. Enjoy a quiet morning at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff or Associate Naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 5:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. One person per ticket. Face masks and social distancing required; please bring your own binoculars, loaner binoculars will not be available. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers.
