These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. Pre-registration Required. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. Using keys, field guides, Powerpoint presentations, and a trail walk we will cover the basics of identification, and learn about the importance of fungi for the ecosystem and the future. NJ Audubon: Saturday Winter Solstice Hike
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Sue Predl, Nature Store Assistant Celebrate the days getting longer and join Sue for a guided two-mile nature hike to enjoy the trees, birds, and plant life at Scherman Hoffman Nature Sanctuary on the shortest day of the year. The trails we hike will vary, but we can guarantee beautiful views of our sanctuary. Walking time is flexible but will be approximately 2 hours. Please dress for the winter weather and wear sturdy shoes; be prepared to walk on uneven ground and up hills. The hike will go rain or shine.
