NJ Audubon: Spring Wildflower Walk

Bring your favorite wildflower guidebook to check out the newly emerged blooms under the woodland canopy and open fields at Scherman Hoffman Sanctuary. Hand-outs will include vocabulary on flower structure and the “What’s in Bloom” brochures of the sanctuary. Registration required by 5/20 at 4:00 PM. One person per ticket. Exploring the John Clyde Memorial Native Grassland Preserve for Breeding Birds and Migrants

Grasshopper Sparrow, Bobolink, and American Kestrel, state threatened species, are found on this site. Bring binoculars if you have them. This site is one of the first grassland restoration projects NJ Audubon has implemented for Franklin Township Open Space Committee. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. NJ Audubon: Bearfort Waters & Mossman’s Brook Trail Bird Walk and Old Coal Trail
Bearfort Waters Clinton Road, Hewitt, NJ, United StatesJoin Associate Naturalist Dave Oster to bird around Bearfort Waters and the trail along Mossman's Brook. We'll walk portions of Mossman's Brook Trail and Old Coal Trail to maximize our chances. Last year Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Least and Acadian Flycatcher, Hermit Thrush, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Hooded, Cerulean, Worm-eating, and Black-throated Blue Warblers were all present, plus many other nesting species. Sturdy footwear recommended as the trail is level to rolling but rocky in places. Often very buggy. Please bring your own binoculars, and spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow. Ticket sales end on 6/2/2023 at 4:00 PM. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate. COST: $15 members, $20 nonmembers. Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. For ages 15 years and older. Preregistration is required. There will be no class 7/1. Ticket sales end at 4:30 PM on the Friday before each class. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. The in-person class has a limit of 10 people. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. COST: $13 members, $16 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member?
