Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey
Miss Chris Marina - The Osprey 1212 Wilson Dr, Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesJoin Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Birding the Meadows
The Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows 692 Sunset Blvd, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for this 2-hour walk around The Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows Preserve property! Expect wading birds, gulls, beach-nesters, and migrating shorebirds. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? Be sure to check the forecast in advance and dress in layers appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. The weather in Cape May can differ considerably from nearby inland areas and may be warmer, colder, or windier so it’s best to be over prepared. We may have to bird in the rain, so please bring your rain gear. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s CMBO programs are virtually never cancelled. Beachcombing the Cove

Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats - the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll scour the shallows, comb the shoreline, and walk along the dunes in search of hidden treasures & signs of wildlife. Along the way, we’ll share some tips and tricks for identifying shells and other beach-inhabiting species! Pre-registration is required. Children may not participate without an adult. After School Nature Club (Spring Session)

Each day will feature a nature topic, walk, craft, activity, and/or story! We welcome the next generation of naturalists to Lorrimer Sanctuary for our after-school nature club! Designed to be a continuation from our Tiny Tots program, we will read books, explore outside, make nature-themed crafts, and learn about the environment in age-appropriate ways. This IS a drop-off program, but parents are invited to stay and have coffee or chat inside during the program! Homeschoolers welcome! COST: $8 per child for members $10 per child for nonmembers, $80 Member Child (All Session Ticket) $102 Non-Member Child (All Session Ticket) Registration ends at 5 pm the day before each event! Birding South Cape May – Lower Cape May County Library walk
FeaturedThe Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows 692 Sunset Blvd, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO staff and naturalists as we partner with Lower Cape May County Library for special lectures and field trips! Join CMBO Program Coordinator, Adehl Schwaderer, and Volunteer Naturalists for 2 hours of birding around beautiful South Cape May Meadows! June is when migrating shorebirds are looking for places to rest and refuel on their journey north, while other birds are already in the middle of their breeding season. During this program, we will be scouring this Nature Conservancy property to see which of these busy bird species we can track down. We will meet in the Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows parking lot and take a slow stroll along the preserve’s trails. Binoculars provided if needed.
