Northwood Center CLOSED – INVENTORY
Cape May Bird Observatory - Northwood Center 701 East Lake Drive, Cape May Point, NJ, United StatesCape May Bird Observatory's Northwood Center will be closed on Wednesday August 31 for our bi-annual inventory. We will re-open on Friday September 1 at 9:30am. Thank you for your understanding. The Ryan DeWitt Memorial Trail will remain open for visitors.
Harbor Safari
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesHelp pull a seine net through the Cape May Harbor to see first-hand what creatures inhabit the waters. Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of Cape May Harbor. You will learn about the ecology of our coastal waters, and about the fascinating and ancient Horseshoe Crab. A great family outing! Pre-registration is required COST: $12 adults, $6 children ages 3-12, children under 3 free. Limited to groups of up to 20 participants during this time. Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Meet 5-10 minutes prior to your program time at the picnic tables in front of the Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. Restrooms will be available to the public 30 minutes before and after the program. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Tiny Tots – Summer Series
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesToddlers can be naturalists too! Perfect for littles 18 months to 3 years old, join us for story time and nature activities! Tiny Tots is BACK! We're excited to welcome a new generation of budding naturalists to Lorrimer Sanctuary for this "grown-up-and-me" style program. We will read books, explore outside, and learn about nature in age-appropriate ways for littles! SCHEDULE: TBD COST: $5 per child for members, $6 per child for nonmembers. Summer Send Off Campfire
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin us for a Summer Sendoff Campfire! Join the Lorrimer Sanctuary Summer Camp staff for a campfire summer sendoff! We’ll be roasting marshmallows and making s’mores over an open fire while we tell tales of fun at summer camp! We’ll be playing camp favorite games with kids and parents alike and searching for clues along the trails during our scavenger hunt. Children must be accompanied by an adult; this is not a drop-off program. To participate in the scavenger hunt and some games, participants must be able to hike roughly 0.5 miles over gravel trail terrain. COST: $8 member child, $9 Non-member child. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Nighttime on the Beach

Learn about ghost crab habitat, how they move, and what they eat. Do you think you can catch one? Discover what other creatures are on the beach at night. Pre-registration is required. Higbee Beach Birding

Famous for migration, we'll search for warbler, vireos, sparrows, and so much more. If the winds are right, we could be awash with migrants! PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. Harbor Art Gallery Opening Reception – September 2023

The Harbor Gallery is pleased to announce their featured local artists for the month of September. Louise Zemaitis, Tina Giaimo and Debra Donahue will display their works with an opening reception to meet the artists on September 1st from 4-6pm. All artwork is for sale, with a portion of sales going to support the Nature Center of Cape May. Light refreshments will be served.
