Sunset Birding at Stone Harbor Point

Creative Hands Club: Autumn Gnomes
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesLearn how local makers create their work! Create your own masterpiece to take home with you or give as a holiday gift for friends and family. Local artist, Paige Cunningham will teach you the craft of needle felting to create an Autumn gnome. Using wool fibers known as roving, participants will needle the wool into a gnome shape and then watch it’s personality appear as they are embellished with quirky and fun details. Muddy Hands Academy: Fall 2022

A great choice for your 3–6-year old's! *Free to apply! * Looking for a way to add nature learning to your little one's week? Join New Jersey Audubon Staff as we use local phenomena to explore the world around us. Children will spend their time outdoors on the Lorrimer Sanctuary property bouncing between hands-on, inquiry-based activities and free-play to help them develop their own understanding of the natural world. We will use Nature as a guide during this twice weekly program over a period of eight weeks. Lessons will include activities focused on natural history topics, a story and craft, age-appropriate risk taking, all with attention to mindfulness and fun. *NO COST TO APPLY! * Children must be a minimum of 3 to enroll and cannot be older than 6 years old to participate. All children in Muddy Hands Academy must be potty-trained and bathroom independent. The Muddy Hands Academy utilizes a Nature Preschool model with children spending as much time as possible outdoors. Children should be prepared for the weather including wet and muddy conditions. Class sizes are limited to 5 children per session. Branch Brook Park Birding Walk
Cherry Blossom Welcome Center Branch Brook Park Drive, Newark, NJ, United StatesThis iconic urban park can work as a “migrant trap” in fall migration, with chances to see warblers and other birds up close. Explore an iconic urban park. This is the right time to discover fall migrants as they make their way south. Led by Dave Hall, Associate Naturalist Branch Brook Park is distinguished by being the first county park to be opened for public use in the United States. It has been placed on both the New Jersey (1980) and National (1981) Registers of Historic Places. Named for a branch brook that flowed through the valley into the Passaic River, the stream that remains, and much of the surrounding landscape, still retain a natural appearance. More than 4,000 cherry trees that blossom during April are greater both in variety and number than the famed Washington, D.C., display—the result of a 1927 gift from Mrs. Felix Fuld family. At its height the Cherry Blossom Festival attracts over 10,000 people a day.
