Digital Photography Workshop: Understanding Your Digital Camera
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesInstructor - David DesRochers, NJ Audubon Associate Naturalist. Learn the basics of operating your digital camera.  The instructor will go over the camera controls, helping participants understand how the settings work and how changes in settings affect the image. Participants will learn what equipment can be used to achieve different effects. By the end of the workshop, participants will understand lenses, camera bodies (DSLR and Mirrorless), megapixels, shutter speeds, focal lengths, apertures, exposure histograms, and depth of field—and how all of these can be used to take good nature photographs. Monarch Tagging Demo
Cape May Point State Park - East Shelter NJ, United StatesJoin the Monarch Monitoring Project team to learn about the Monarch butterflies that migrate through Cape May, as well as the ongoing research and outreach our staff is doing to help protect the species. After the talk, watch as small tags are affixed to Monarchs to track their migration to Mexico. And best of all, you'll learn how you can contribute to Monarch conservation! Hawks, Trails and Beach
Cape May Point State Park Hawkwatch Platform NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for this 2-hour walk around the Cape May Point State Park! The afternoon hawk flight is often strong, with late day movements of falcons. Seabirds and shorebirds often pass or rest on the beach and songbirds are found on the trails. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. Fishing Basics
Learn the art of fishing at Fishing Basics: get hands-on experience, expert tips, and have a reel-y great time! Join us for a fun-filled day of fishing basics! Whether you're a beginner or just want to brush up on your skills, this in-person event is perfect for you. Our experienced instructors will cover everything from casting techniques to knot tying. You'll also learn about bait selection and fish identification. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow fishing enthusiasts and enjoy the great outdoors. So, grab your friends and family and get ready for a day of reeling in some unforgettable memories! AND you'll get the chance to try your luck at fishing! Rods and tackle will be available to share, but you are welcome to bring your own. This program is geared for children 5th grade + and adults. Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey
Miss Chris Marina - The Osprey 1212 Wilson Dr, Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesJoin Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible.
