Fall Break Fun: Kindergarten to 3rd Grade

Join us for a fun-filled Fall Break at Lorrimer Sanctuary in Franklin Lakes, NJ! Get ready for an exciting outdoor adventure where kids can explore nature, learn new skills, and make lasting memories. Our experienced environmental educators will lead engaging activities like hiking, nature crafts, and interactive games. At Fall Break Fun, children will have the opportunity to connect with nature, discover fascinating wildlife, and develop a deeper appreciation for the environment. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to have a blast during your fall break! This is an ONSITE program at Lorrimer Sanctuary for kids in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. Sessions available: 9am-1pm Thursday November 5th: Wilderness Skills Friday November 6th: Camp Favorites COST: $100 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This is a 4-hour drop-off program for kindergarten to 3rd grade students. This program will run through lunch, and we will break for morning snack. Please note, Lorrimer Sanctuary is NOT a peanut-free facility. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Thomas Donch Nature Preserve hosted by Lorrimer Sanctuary Staff for students in 3rd to 6th grade. This event takes place outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather. In the case of extreme weather, this program will be cancelled and refunded. Tiny Tots – Fall Series

Perfect for littles 18 months to 3 years old, join us for story time and nature activities! We welcome a new generation of budding naturalists to Lorrimer Sanctuary for this "grown-up-and-me" style program. We will read books, explore outside, and learn about nature in age-appropriate ways for littles! This program is best for kids 18 months to 3.5yrs. Lessons follow our statewide programmatic themes: October: Sustainability, November: Waterfowl. Junior Naturalists Club (Afterschool Fall Session)

Designed to be a continuation from our younger student afterschool program, the Junior Naturalists Club is meant for kids ages 8-12. During this hour-long program, we will get hands-on discovering nature through outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, science experiments, and more. This is a drop-off program. Homeschoolers welcome! Registration ends at 5 pm the day before each event! NJ Audubon: Digital Photography Chincoteague NWR Weekend Field Trip
Instructors – Phil and Becky Witt, Dave DesRochers, Jack and Ellen Moskowitz, Associate Naturalists; Bruce Michael Join us at Chincoteague NWR for a weekend workshop of guided in-the-field photo opportunities and classroom digital editing instruction. Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is one of the gems of the eastern shore of Virginia on the southern end of the Delmarva Peninsula. Established in 1943 to protect migratory birds, the refuge has a diversity of habitats as well as cultural treasures such as the Assateague Lighthouse and the Chincoteague ponies. This weekend workshop will include both photo opportunities in the field, where instructors will work with participants to capture the best images, especially of wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets, and classroom work to instruct participants on digital editing of their images. COST: $255.00 per person. Does not include transportation, lodging, or meals. LODGING: We have reserved rooms for participants at the Refuge Inn, 7058 Maddox Rd, Chincoteague, VA. We are extending ticket sales into October. You can check with NJ Audubon regarding ticket availabilty. Please call the hotel to check their availability and to reserve a room.
