Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary
July 1 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
This summer, The Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary will feature an exciting new exhibit titled “Windows Into Nature” by local artist David Clair. All sale proceeds from the exhibit will be donated to NJ Audubon.
As David relates “Most of the pieces in this show present landscape elements as viewed through abstract windows. The framework is usually done in acrylics and the scenes are some combination of acrylics and collage. The collage elements use magazine papers that have undergone varying degrees of solvent treatment. Using lacquer thinner the printed image can be faded or completely destroyed and the inks quickly worked into the desired texture. In turn, the resulting textures are useful in representing rock formations and foliage in landscapes as well as other textural effects for more abstract work.”
David Clair has been painting since the early nineteen sixties. Since his retirement in 1990, he has had more time to pursue his art and has experimented with a variety of collage and mixed media techniques. His work has appeared in shows at the Atrium Gallery in Morristown, the Bernardsville Library, the Morris Arts Gallery, and juried exhibits at the Mountain Art Show, the Somerset Art Association and the Tewksbury Historical Society.
