We got killer views of both Orchard Oriole and Yellow-breasted Chat on this morning’s Garret walk, including full scope views of both. An unexpected sound was that of a Bobwhite calling and, though it sounded very close, we never got even a peek at it; these have been extirpated in New Jersey for a long time, and this was undoubtedly a released bird. The butterflies were also hot with many Orange Sulfurs and a nice variety of skippers making use of the abundant nectar in the seeded wildflower areas.
