Our walk down the tracks from Garrett rewarded us with excellent scope views of a Black-crowned Night Heron perched on a snag, as well as Chimney Swifts, Barn Swallows, Tree Swallows and Purple Martins over the pond. Orchard Oriole and Cedar Waxwings perched nearby, and the fields of Garrett yielded Blue Grosbeak, singing Indigo Buntings and Yellow-breasted Chats, and singing-but-never-seen Field Sparrows. We were even treated to the sight of a high Mississippi Kite gliding across the bright blue sky.
