Spring Birding at Garrett Family Preserve – June 6, 2026

Leaders: Kathy & Roger Horn, Alan Crawford, Bernie Hodgdon, Holly Lemieux

Temp: 73° F

Winds: SW 9 mph

Weather Conditions: sunny

Yellow-breasted Chats were putting on a show at Garrett this morning. They could be heard calling most of the time and we had scope views of at least 3 of them with one so close no scope was needed. Prairie Warblers popped into view a few times and Clapper Rails, which sounded very close, called back and forth but never gave us a glimpse. Many butterflies were visible as well, with Spring Azures, Orange Sulfurs and Zabulon Skippers common amongst the wildflowers.
