For years, the Carbon Footprint Cup competition was dominated by cycling teams to the south, where it is, admittedly, pretty flat. In 2023, along came the Northern Sweat Owls, who braved the hills and the weather, covering 50 miles and scoring an amazing 130 species! The last two of the day were spotted right after this photo was taken; a Black-crowned Night Heron and a Common Nighthawk. They raised nearly $1,000 for their non-profit, Wild Bird Research Group.
