The highlight at the State Park this morning was a flock of 13 Brown Pelicans that flew over the parking lot. Unfortunately, it was before participants arrived, but a smaller group showed up later and headed across the bay towards Delaware. Quite a few Glossy Ibis were feeding on one of the Plover Ponds while larger flocks of White Ibis flew over or perched on cedar tops, providing a good contest between young of both species. Purple Martin numbers are down significantly now that their southward migraine is underway. We also had evidence of migration in the large number of Eastern Kingbirds seen.
