View an illustrated program to learn about what plants were used then and why. See what plants are still important today as sources for medicine. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. Pre-registration Required. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas 1:1 or in a small group setting. Share your history, involvement, and love of the Sanctuary, give input and feedback regarding the center and get your thoughts and ideas heard. Come join us at New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary for a fun and educational birding experience on our observation deck. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting out, this event is perfect for all levels of bird enthusiasts. You'll have the opportunity to learn about the World Series of Birding and the diverse bird species that call the sanctuary home. Our experienced birder, Mary, will help you spot and identify various birds while sharing interesting facts about their behaviors and habitats. The Big Stay is perfect for people that would like to participate in the World Series of Birding but aren't interested in traveling around the state or hiking. "Stay" on our deck and let the birds come to you instead of hunting for the birds! Join the team for the whole day, or just the morning shift or afternoon shift.
