    Join CMBO naturalists for 2 hours of birding around the Cape May Point State Park! E-Z Birding is for beginning birders and for those want to learn more about the birds and how to find them. Cape May Point State Park is a great place to bird with a variety of habitats - woods, fields, ponds, dunes, and beach! PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. Be sure to check the forecast in advance and dress in layers appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. The weather in Cape May can differ considerably from nearby inland areas and may be warmer, colder, or windier so it’s best to be over prepared. We may have to bird in the rain, so please bring your rain gear. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s CMBO programs are virtually never cancelled. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance.     Welcome to Tiny Tots Fall Series! Toddlers can be naturalists too! Perfect for littles 18 months to 3 years old, join us for story time and nature activities! We welcome a new generation of budding naturalists to Lorrimer Sanctuary for this "grown-up-and-me" style program. We will read books, explore outside, and learn about nature in age-appropriate ways for littles!     New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United States

    Join NJ Audubon Naturalist on the Scherman Hoffman observation deck for a bird’s eye view of the fall migration. We'll be looking for migrating raptors and any passerines passing through. Marvel at the spectacular views of Broad-winged Hawk kettles as they fly over the sanctuary, Bald Eagles, and other raptors. Hawkwatches are scheduled for Thursdays, September 10, 17, and 24, and October 1, 8, 22, and 29 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Loaner binoculars will be available.     FOR CHILDREN 8-12 YEARS OLD Welcome to Junior Naturalists Afterschool Club! Designed to be a continuation from our younger student afterschool program, the Junior Naturalists Club is meant for kids ages 8-12. During this hour-long program, we will get hands-on discovering nature through outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, science experiments, and more. This is a drop-off program. Homeschoolers welcome! Registration ends at 5 pm the day before each event!     Join Ben Barkley, Program Director, for an early bird’s eye view of the fall migration. Join us for an early morning Friday bird walk at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary. We will survey the morning migrants from the 3rd floor observation deck and then continue onto the trails for a short hike. The length of the hike will depend on bird activity.     Early fall birding at the hook: we may encounter anything from shorebirds and terns to flycatchers, sparrows, and warblers. A wide variety of habitats ensure good bird diversity at one of the state’s best spots. Be prepared for 3-4 hours of walking over flat and sandy surfaces.
