The predicted downpour never materialized though we had a slight drizzle off and on during this morning’s walk. Of course, that didn’t deter the birds, and we encountered a couple of mixed feeding flocks. The first one in the parking lot contained a Red-breasted Nuthatch, Black-and-white Warbler and several American Redstarts. Later, back by the large pond, a ground-feeding flock included several Eastern Bluebirds, Palm Warblers, Field and Chipping Sparrows, and House and Goldfinches. A large flock of Bobolinks flew overhead with their calls alerting us to their presence.
