NJ Audubon Patriots Path Bird Walk

Patriot’s Path is a well-maintained trail that winds through grassy and scrubby areas in Parsippany adjacent to Troy Meadows. Patriot's Path is a well-maintained trail that winds through grassy and scrubby areas in Parsippany and East Hanover, Morris County, adjacent to Troy Meadows. In October Patriot's Path can be outstanding for sparrows with 6 or more species present on a good day. We'll look for all the "regulars" as well as White-crowned, Lincoln's, Vesper and Savannah Sparrows. Surprises are possible. Patriot's Path is also excellent for short distance migrants such as kinglets, Yellow-rumped and Palm Warblers. Nearby woods offer other possibilities, and a variety of raptors, including Merlin and Harrier, may be encountered. Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist.    COST: $15 members, $20 nonmembers. Cape May Harbor Beach Sweep

Join us at the Nature Center to help clean our ocean and harbor beaches here in Cape May.  This date coincides with Clean Ocean Action's annual Beach Sweeps. This is a great community service project for your civic organization or scout group.  Additionally, we’ll plant, mulch, deadhead, weed, and prune throughout the Center's grounds and along the harbor. Preregistration is not required; however, if you plan to bring a large group, we would appreciate a call ahead of time: (609) 427-3045. Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist Those diabolical plants! From poisonous to causing allergies, this presentation is all about those scary plants. Join Dorothy for an illustrated program on plants that are poisonous, spiny, deadly, invasive, or illegal. We will also see plants that trap and eat insects and those that cause allergies. Vote on the scariest for Halloween! This program will be presented in person at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary and via Zoom. Please be sure to purchase the correct ticket. One person per ticket.
