Join Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Join us at Lorrimer Sanctuary on the fourth Sunday of every month for nature-based art projects! Cyanotype Printing: Connect with the environment in a fun and unique way with cyanotype printing! Make your own nature-based compositions and let the sun do the printing for you! The program will begin with a short walk on the trails at Lorrimer Sanctuary followed by a printing demonstration. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Supplies will be provided This is an all ages event, not a drop off program: children must have an accompanying adult if under 16 years old This event will be both indoors and outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather. Ticket sale for each class ends at 4:00 PM on the day before the class. What treasures does the sea leave behind at the water’s edge? Join us for an hour of beach combing to find out! Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats - the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll scour the shallows, comb the shoreline, and walk along the dunes in search of hidden treasures & signs of wildlife. Our center will be closed today in observance of the July 4th Independence Day holiday. We will reopen for our regular hours on Sunday July 5. 
With its diversity of habitat – beach, dunes, ponds, forest, and marsh – Cape May Point is the perfect spot for great year-round birding. We'll look for breeding songbirds, waterbirds, terns and the chance of a passing migrant. We’ll travel the trails, check out CMBO’s Northwood Center and other surrounding hotspots on The Point. There’s arguably no better all-around summer birding spot in the state than Forsythe NWR. “Brig’s” combination of habitats, easy accessibility, and penchant for attracting rare species make this a perennial favorite. Expect a wide range of species from long-legged wading birds to raptors, rails, and many species of shorebirds, terns, and passerines. Each week is likely to be different as we watch the ebb and flow of summer migration. There’s arguably no better all-around summer birding spot in the state than Forsythe NWR. “Brig’s” combination of habitats, easy accessibility, and penchant for attracting rare species make this a perennial favorite. Fungi have been used for thousands of years by humans, not only as food but as medicine, fire-starters, insect repellants, decoration, for religious ceremonies and more. Not only are they decomposers and recyclers in the forest ecosystem, but they also connect to tree roots – a mutualistic symbiosis that might allow trees to communicate with each other. There’s arguably no better all-around summer birding spot in the state than Forsythe NWR. “Brig’s” combination of habitats, easy accessibility, and penchant for attracting rare species make this a perennial favorite. Expect a wide range of species from long-legged wading birds to raptors, rails, and many species of shorebirds, terns, and passerines. Each week is likely to be different as we watch the ebb and flow of summer migration. There’s arguably no better all-around summer birding spot in the state than Forsythe NWR. “Brig’s” combination of habitats, easy accessibility, and penchant for attracting rare species make this a perennial favorite. Expect a wide range of species from long-legged wading birds to raptors, rails, and many species of shorebirds, terns, and passerines. Each week is likely to be different as we watch the ebb and flow of summer migration. Led by Scott Barnes and associate naturalists.
