Our center will be closed today in observance of the July 4th Independence Day holiday. We will reopen for our regular hours on Sunday July 5. 
With its diversity of habitat – beach, dunes, ponds, forest, and marsh – Cape May Point is the perfect spot for great year-round birding. Join Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Beyond the charming Victorian homes and sandy beaches, Cape May is world famous for its birdwatching, monarch migration, and natural history. Join Cape May Bird Observatory naturalists on a trolley tour to local “natural habitats” (with exits at two spots), learning about the beauty, diversity, abundance (millions of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies pass through each year), geography, and extensive history of this amazing spectacle. Does the thought of adding a pond to your backyard both excite and terrify you at the same time? How do you even start? Is it affordable? What about mosquitoes? The Cape May Bird Observatory, with support from the Diane Cornell Wildlife Gardening Project, is excited to host Katie Fisk to answer all your questions about adding a water feature to your backyard. Katie has been an Environmental Educator for over 20 years, using her passion for wildlife gardening to connect people with the world around them. If you join us, you’ll learn tips and tricks from someone who has done it all, from a container pond on an apartment balcony to a 40-gallon hard shell pond to a 150-gallon custom pond using a liner. You can do this! We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor.
